People on Reddit are sharing all the reasons they’re addicted to marijuana and cocaine, and many are taking the drug for medical reasons.
In the AMA thread, user bryant_p said: “I used to have a hard time controlling my emotions because of my ADD.

I used it as a treatment for anxiety and depression.
I also have a drug addiction.
I used it to numb my pain, so that I could be happy.
It helped me sleep at night.”
The AMA thread was filled with people discussing their addiction, with users posting about their use of cocaine, marijuana, heroin, alcohol and ecstasy.
Some users reported having to stop using drugs because they found they could no longer cope with the negative consequences.
One user, bryanth_p, said that her life was now completely changed when she was prescribed cocaine.
“I was so desperate to stop, I even stopped going to the gym and stopped doing other things I enjoyed.
I was so depressed, so ashamed of myself, I had to stop everything.”
The thread also features users discussing their dependence on prescription drugs, with some posting about being prescribed opioids, antidepressants and other medication.
Another user wrote:”A friend recently died from an overdose.
He took an Oxycontin and died instantly.”
The forum thread also has comments from users who have been prescribed opioids for chronic pain.
One person wrote: “[When] I was in pain I would use an OxyContin, I would lie down on my bed and try to relax my muscles and my body would feel like it was in a trance.
I would have nightmares.
I thought that was the way I was supposed to live.”
Another post read:”The pain was just so much worse after I was prescribed opioids.
I felt like I had no choice but to use them because they helped me manage my pain.
I can’t tell you how hard it was for me to live without it.
The pain in my chest is now much worse and it’s not just chronic.
It’s really bad and has changed my life.”
Some users also have reported being prescribed antipsychotics, antidepressants, tranquilisers and painkillers.
Another person wrote of using heroin for pain:”This is the first time in my life I have ever tried to overdose and died.
I feel like I will never get over it.
This is so wrong and I’m sorry I didn-“My friend who I used heroin with for months died from a heroin overdose.”
Another person shared their experience of being prescribed opiate painkillers:”My boyfriend was prescribed an opiate opiate for a long time and he used to take it for days on end.
I could not cope with it and I would just feel like my life was falling apart.
“Some people have posted that they have stopped taking prescription drugs because of their addiction to marijuana.
Another poster wrote:’I stopped using the opiates.
They are not the same as prescription drugs but they help me manage the symptoms of ADD.
‘I feel like a robot.
I am so useless without opiates because I am always looking for the perfect opiate.
I use my meds to numb the pain, I sleep at my computer to get away from all the other problems.
My life is not worth living anymore.’
